HIV Testing and Counseling | Our HIV clinics offer confidential and anonymous testing services. They use different testing methods, including rapid, blood, and self-testing kits. Pre-test counselling helps individuals understand the testing process, risks, and benefits, while post-test counselling provides support and guidance based on the test results. PULSE Clinic in Bangkok is the first private clinic that provides the most comprehensive 28 PCR testing for 28 types of infections caused by viruses, bacteria, fungi and parasites that can be transmitted sexually. |
HIV Prevention Services | Our HIV clinics are crucial in HIV prevention. They provide education and counselling on safe sex practices, condom use, and harm reduction strategies. We provide a wide range of Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and Post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) to individuals at high risk of acquiring HIV before or after exposure to the virus. We also provide PrEP refills for local and internation patient on our clinics or online. See Get PrEP online |
Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) HIV Treatment | ART is the cornerstone of HIV treatment, and HIV clinics provide access to various antiretroviral medications. We conduct laboratory tests and develop personalised treatment plans. Regular monitoring of viral load and CD4 cell count helps determine the effectiveness of treatment and makes adjustments if necessary. |
Opportunistic Infection Management | HIV weakens the immune system, making individuals more susceptible to opportunistic infections. Our HIV clinics offer diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of these infections, such as tuberculosis, pneumonia, and various sexually transmitted diseases. We may also administer vaccinations to protect against certain conditions. |
HIV Care and Support | HIV clinics provide ongoing care and support to individuals living with HIV. This includes regular check-ups, treatment adherence monitoring, medication side effects management, and addressing health concerns. |
Mental Health & Wellness | Living with HIV can significantly impact mental well-being. HIV clinics may offer mental health services, including counselling and therapy. These services help individuals cope with the emotional challenges associated with HIV, manage stress, and improve their quality of life. |
Antiretroviral therapy (ART) is a mix of medicines that fight HIV, a virus that wreaks havoc on CD4 cells, which are essential for our immune system. While ART can’t cure HIV, it does wonders in keeping the virus levels in check. This allows our bodies to make more CD4 cells and stay healthy.
ART medicines use different ways to stop HIV from sneaking into cells and making copies of itself. By combining two to four medicines, each working its magic, ART reduces the virus’s levels (called the viral load) in our bodies. This combo therapy is more effective and less likely to fail. If the viral load is low enough, blood tests might not even pick up HIV.
If you have HIV, you should start taking ART as soon as possible. Even if your CD4 counts are high, studies show that starting treatment early is usually the best way to manage the virus. HIV attacks your immune system by overwhelming your defenses, making you more susceptible to other health problems. A lesser amount of HIV in your system means your body will have an easier time dealing with the virus, which also means you will be less likely to have a health complication that comes with HIV. Starting ART sooner will give you more chance that your HIV infection won't develop to the stage that causes serious harm to your health.
You’ll need to take antiretroviral medications for life. Regularly missing doses can cause the virus to multiply and become harder to treat. Studies show that missed doses of ART increase the risk of lower T-cell counts and higher viral load, which would mean the HIV virus will start replicating itself in your system, then get dangerous to your health again, medication resistance, which would require stronger medication in order to stay at the previous undetectable level, and life-threatening infections that come from a weaker immune system.
HIV treatments nowadays are much less intimidating, usually only involve taking one pill per day and going to schedule check-up once in a while. Talk to your doctor if you are worried about the lifelong treatment or feeling like you want to stop the medicine.
ART is super effective when you take it consistently and correctly. Studies show that over 90% of people who follow their ART meds get HIV levels so low they can’t be detected within a year. If you start ART right away and keep taking it, you can live as long as someone without HIV. Without treatment, people with HIV usually live 8 to 10 years.
It’s important to know that ART doesn’t completely get rid of HIV from your body. Instead, it focuses on the viruses that are actively entering your cells and making more copies. When HIV is inside your cells and not making more copies, these medications can’t see it. ART can effectively stop HIV from reproducing, bringing its levels so low that blood tests can no longer detect it. But if you stop ART when you reach undetectable levels, the dormant virus can wake up and start making more copies again. This reactivation can make it harder to treat the virus if it happens.
HIV-positive folks nowadays are living longer, and many can expect to live as long as their HIV-negative friends. Research shows that people with HIV have a similar life expectancy to those without HIV, as long as they get diagnosed and treated on time. Several factors can increase your risk, some of which you can’t control (age, family history, HIV), and others you can change (smoking, physical activity, diet, weight, alcohol/drug use, social connections).
Though there are currently no cure for HIV, undetectable viral load is easily achievable. Having an undetectable viral load does not cure HIV, as the virus remains in the body. However, effective treatment at PULSE can help you achieve a normal life expectancy while preventing the transmission of the virus to others. With the right care, you can also start a family and enjoy a happy, healthy life. More reason to trust PULSE to support your journey toward better health and wellness.

HIV treatment, called antiretroviral therapy (ART), uses prescribed medications to lower the HIV virus to undetectable levels, making it untraceable by standard tests. With this type of treatment, ART helped people living with HIV start a family and enjoy a happy, healthy life.
Starting ART is crucial for everyone with HIV, regardless of how long they've had the virus or their health status. Delaying treatment can damage the immune system and increase the risk of transmission, illness, and AIDS.
You might have heard the phrase 'Undetectable = Untransmittable'. Most people living with HIV who follow a daily antiretroviral therapy regimen can achieve an undetectable viral load within six months.
When someone with HIV is undetectable and maintains this status for at least six months, the risk of sexual transmission is effectively zero. This is estimated to be 100% effective as long as they continue taking their prescribed medication. At PULSE Clinic, we perform regular blood tests to monitor your progress and determine when your virus is undetectable and untransmittable.
People newly diagnosed with HIV typically take between 1 and 4 pills daily. The specific combination of HIV medicines is tailored to each individual.
Treatment effectiveness is monitored by measuring the viral load; an undetectable viral load means the virus cannot be measured. Most people on daily HIV treatment achieve an undetectable viral load within 6 months.
If you stop taking your HIV medication, your viral load will quickly increase. It’s important to continue taking your HIV medicine as prescribed, even if your viral load is undetectable.
If you’re considering stopping your medication or have concerns about your treatment, consult your doctor. If you’ve already stopped, reach out to your health care provider immediately. They can help address any issues that led to discontinuation and assist you in resuming your medication regimen.
While on HIV medication, you might experience symptoms such as:
We know that side effects like nausea or diarrhea can make it challenging to stick with HIV treatment. Your healthcare provider can offer medications or other support to help manage most side effects.
If your HIV treatment is causing significant discomfort, discuss it with your healthcare provider. They may recommend additional medications to alleviate the side effects or adjust your treatment plan.
