About The Artist :

Graduate of The Glasgow School of Art, my work until now explores the human body as skin and as a symbol, and the many different nuances it can carry in a globalized society. An artwork might be inspired by a chosen pose, fleeting glance or shared reflection, or the way a colored pattern stretches around dimpled flesh. Images are gathered from friends and strangers, bitches and lovers, or the cold hard gaze of the internet. I collect and collage using a combination of oil, printing, and digital media to capture the myriad perceptions of people. Pleasing or not, in the words of Meredith Brooks, you know you wouldn’t want it any other way. Recent exhibitions include ROI, RBA, and FBA in Mall Galleries, London, and RCB Portrait Prize at River City Bangkok.

How do we explain what beauty is? Perhaps it is imagery that brings us joy or gives us comfort. As humans, we all do creative things every day, even though they can be seen as ordinary as collecting objects, choosing our clothing, or tidying our home. As we decorate ourselves and our environment, we style and curate our personal entry to a greater social narrative. Over time our decorations are influenced by our beliefs, goals, and feelings and we use them both consciously and subconsciously, to conceal or reveal different parts of ourselves.
