PULSE Awards: The Art for Life

Theme 2021: "Sexual Health Matters!"

Asia’s Leading Sexual Health Provider Launches PULSE Awards  To Promote the Importance of Sexual Health

 

PULSE Clinic, Asia’s leading lifestyle clinic, believes that a healthy society recognises and supports an individual’s potential. To provide a platform for new and emerging contemporary artists in Southeast Asia and Hong Kong, PULSE clinic has launched the inaugural PULSE Awards: The Art for Life, a competition for artists to submit their works based on the theme Sexual Health Matters.

 

Bangkok/Singapore, 21st July 2021 - PULSE Clinic, Asia’s leading sexual healthcare provider, with clinics in Thailand, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore and opening in the Philippines in September, launched today an award to provide a platform for new and emerging contemporary visual artists in Southeast Asia and Hong Kong to produce exciting new works with the theme Sexual Health Matters!

 

The inaugural PULSE Awards: The Art for Life aims to raise awareness on the importance of sexual health, remove social stigma towards the LGBTQ+ community, and normalise society’s attitudes towards sex and sexuality.

 

The competition is open with immediate effect with a Call to Artists from Southeast Asia and Hong Kong to submit their works in the following categories by 15 October, 2021:

  1. Painting – 2D
  2. Sculpture – 3D
  3. Photography
  4. Ceramic
  5. Digital art

Two prizes will be awarded to the winners for each category as follows:

  • First Prize 100,000THB / 3,200USD (or equivalent in local currency)
  • Most Promising 50,000THB / 1,600USD (or equivalent in local currency)

Finalists will have their artworks exhibited at the new PULSE Gallery spaces in Bangkok in the lead-up to World AIDS Day on 1 December, 2021 when the winners will be announced. The selected works will be auctioned for the Singapore-based charity Foundation for Life. Fifty percent of the auction proceeds will be donated to the Foundation For Life to support testing and treatment of individuals and communities. The remaining 50% raised will go to the artists. Additionally, two winners in their respective categories will win prize money. (More information can be found here).

Together we can raise awareness on sexual health, remove stigma towards the LGBTQ+ community and normalise society’s attitudes towards sex and sexuality.”

 

Judges for the selection panel will be named at a later date.
