Condom Sizing: How to Measure Your Penis Size (Get Penis Ruler for Free!)

Wanna make sure you’re having safe and protected sex?

It is not uncommon that some people do not know how to measure their penis size properly, and that often leads them to confusion about which size of condom they are supposed to be using. According to research conducted by the Ministry of Public Health of Thailand, the average penis size of Thai men is reported as 52mm, based on condom sales rather than direct measurements of penis size. The best-selling condoms in Thailand are the 52mm and 42mm sizes, indicating their high popularity among consumers and taking almost 80% of the market share (54mm and 56mm sizes are also selling, but not as much as the sizes mentioned before).

Wanna make sure you’re having safe and protected sex? First, you have to know how to measure your penis size properly so you can find a condom size that fits you well. Don't fret over whether your penis is too large or small. Size isn't everything; what truly matters is your skill and technique in bed. Yes, you can make your partner reach the orgasmic heaven, even by a 52mm-sized penis.

The girth of your penis will determine which size of condom you are supposed to be wearing. You cannot wear condoms that are too tight because they can tear or break. And if you think you can fix that problem by just wearing condoms bigger than your size, you are wrong. The condom will slip off during intercourse if it is too loose. So, let’s just learn how to measure your penis size properly, shall we?

How to Measure Your Penis Length

  1. Fluff the penis. Make it hard.
  2. Position the ruler or the end of the measuring tape at the base of the penis, where it meets the pubic bone.
  3. Carefully place your penis against the ruler, ensuring there is no gap between the ruler and the penis. Avoid pulling the penis.
  4. Measure the penis from its base to the tip. This measurement is your penis length.
  5. If the penis has a curve, you can measure it accordingly, taking into account its curvature.

How to Measure Your Penis Girth

  1. Make sure your penis is still aroused.
  2. Choose the thickest area to measure your penis girth
  3. Carefully wrap the tape or string once around the thickest part of the erect penis shaft.
  4. Make sure the tape isn’t wrapped too tightly or loosely. (Don’t cheat the numbers! Remember, sizes don’t matter!)
  5. The circumference of your penis is more crucial than its length. Condoms are typically designed with extra length, so if they are too long for you, you can leave them rolled up at the base of your penis. However, if your penis girth measurement is incorrect and the condom is too small, it may tear. Conversely, if the condom is too large, it might slip off during use.

To measure your penis, make sure it is aroused first. How you will arouse it is entirely up to you. Once aroused, measure its girth in millimeters and divide the result by 2.3 to determine your condom size. For example, if your measurement is 104mm, dividing it by 2.3 will result in 45mm, which is your condom size.

Unfortunately, many people still make the mistake of measuring only the length of the penis without also measuring its girth to determine their condom sizes.

Condoms commonly come in sizes 49mm, 52mm, and 54mm on store shelves. To convert these measurements into inches:

  • 49mm is approximately 4.5 inches (11cm)
  • 52mm is 5 inches (13cm)
  • 54mm is 6 inches (15cm)

Once you've found the right condom size for you, you are prepared! However, for the most effective protection during sex, it is essential to also learn the correct methods for putting on and removing a condom.

Choosing a Condom that Fits You Perfectly

  1. If the measurement of your penis girth is less than 52mm or 2 inches, opt for a smaller-sized condom. These may be less commonly stocked in stores but are available from reputable brands at drugstores or online.
  2. If the measurement of your penis girth is 51-52mm or 2-2.05 inches, opt for a standard-sized condom. You can find regular condoms and other varieties like flavored or lubricated condoms easily at drugstores and supermarkets. Not all types may suit your preferences or comfort levels. While any condom is safe to use, make sure you are comfortable with the choice of your condom.
  3. If the measurement of your penis girth is more than 52mm or 2.05 inches, opt for condoms of XL size. Men often choose condoms that are larger than their actual size. However, it is important to remember that selecting the wrong condom size puts both you and your partner at risk of the consequences of unprotected sex.

Putting on a Condom (The Right Way)

  1. Your penis must be fully aroused before you can put the condom on
  2. Make sure the condom's rolled edge is facing outward to prevent it from being inside-out.
  3. Pinch the tip lightly and place it over the tip of the penis to remove trapped air, which can lead to condom breakage. If the person wearing the condom is uncircumcised, retract the foreskin before putting on the condom.
  4. Roll the condom down to the base of the penis.

Taking off a Condom (The Right Way)

  1. After ejaculation or finishing sex, pull out before your penis shrinks to prevent your condom from slipping inside your partner and risking semen leakage.
  2. Hold the condom’s rim and swipe it up to remove the condom from your penis.
  3. Tie a knot at the condom's opening to prevent fluids from spilling. Wrap it with tissues before disposing it in a waste bin. (DO NOT flush used condoms, as they can clog the toilet)

Now that you know all these tips, you can finally practice safe sex and steer clear of any sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and unplanned pregnancies!

Did you know that a penis with a girth of 56mm can be compared to the size of a soda bottle?! So be very careful when someone you are going to sleep with is claiming that they have a big penis (Thai or not) because they might be making excuses about condom size just to avoid using one and proceed with unprotected sex. And then what’s next? Choosing the right condom is much more cost-effective than buying PEP (post-exposure prophylaxis) or Plan B.
