The Gay ZOO - The 2023 Gay Slang from Animal Kingdom

Somehow we gay people managed to categorize our people by using the terms from kingdom animalia, that s why I call it the zoo, we like to name, we like to display and it’s fun for us LOL

Gay men wanted to be able to speak in public without revealing their sexuality, especially in places and times of extreme LGBTQ+ persecution. Thus, gay lexicon was born. Over the years, gay slang has evolved, and it’s sometimes tough to keep up. So here they are, all the creatures in the queer animal kingdom, fully explained.

Bear (n.) – A larger side of muscular, beefy, chubby, chunky gay man with normal variation to be a little over-weighted, doesn’t matter older or younger, they may have smooth skin or hairy but if they are hairy they wouldn’t wanna shave and unlike their namesake, they don’t need to hibernate. They

Butterfly (n.) - A gay guy who likes to flirt from one guy to another guy and maybe sleep with all of them.

Bull (n.) - Hunky, muscular bodybuilders who weigh 200+ pounds.

Chicken (n.) – 1. A muscular guy who train hard on the upper part of the body with skinny leg because he forgot to train them legs.
              2. A little feminine twink.

Chickenhawk (n.) – An older man who sexually pursues younger chickens/twinks

Cub (n.) – A younger version of the Bear, baby bear, heavier than the Otter. May or may not deal with body issues. Large, hairy guys in their teens and 20’s who are on their way to becoming a bear.

Dolphin (n.) - A slender, athletic, hairless bear.

Donald Duck (n.) – a homosexual male who is dishonorably discharged from the Navy for their sexuality; see also: “Dishonorable Discharge,” or masturbating solo after trying to pick someone up and failing.

Giraffe (n.) –An incredibly tall gay man.

Gym Rat (n.) – The gay man who spends all day at the gym, talking about how he needs to go to the gym, or how he’s coming from the gym.

Lounge lizard (n.) – someone who frequents bars, trying to pick up other peoples’ mates.

Otter (n.) – Larger than the twink but thinner and younger then the Bear. Any age can be otters they have all different types of facial hair. They may trim their chest hair, but they’ll always leave at least some hair to feel masculine.

Pig (n.) – The most sexual type of gay men. All they think about is sex, pigs love sex more than anything else and often they are kinky and filthy seedy.

Pup (n.) – Gay men with kink interest, have a pretty relaxed power dynamic, can act and/or dress up as puppies and desire handlers. The handler treats their puppies like they would their own dog, with love and affection.

Shrimp (n.) – A gay guy with nice body but ugly face. An ugly gay man with very hot muscular body. The body is a compensation of the face. Why shrimp? Because you eat shrimp you ignore the face and eat the body.

Silver Fox (n.) – Ant. Silver daddy. (n.) A gay

Wolf (n.) – A hairy gay man who’s neither a Bear nor an Otter but floats somewhere in between. Also, may not howl at the moon if you ask him too. Unlike Otters, Wolves are sexually aggressive.
