What is TAFICITA?

TAFICITA® is a prescription medication used to treat HIV infection. It contains two active ingredients:

  • Tenofovir Alafenamide (25 mg)
  • Emtricitabine (200 mg)

These drugs belong to a class called Nucleoside Reverse Transcriptase Inhibitors (NRTIs), which help reduce the amount of HIV in the body and support immune system health.

How TAFICITA Works (Mechanism of Action)

TAFICITA® works by blocking reverse transcriptase, an enzyme HIV uses to replicate. By stopping this enzyme, the medication helps control the infection and reduces the viral load, allowing the immune system to function better.
