How to Use Saxenda
Saxenda® is to be injected once a day. Before anything, we will make sure to advise on how and when to use it based on your current weight, diet, and physical activities.
Note: You must follow the directions given to you. Please ask us if you don’t understand anything about the medicine.
Next, you will be given a diet and exercise program to follow while you are using it. Be sure to tell us if you have any allergies to any food or medicines.
As mentioned, Saxenda® comes in doses of 0.6 mg, 1.2 mg, 1.8 mg, 2.4 mg or 3.0 mg. We will tell you how much of the medicine you need per day. The usual starting dose is 0.6 mg.
Be sure to drink plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration, especially if you’re experiencing vomiting or diarrhea on your first week of treatment.
You may be prescribed to increase the dosage as time progresses. It may be increased by 0.6mg per week until you hit the maximum of 3.0 mg. Again, this will be prescribed by the doctor. Please don’t increase the dosage any further or increase it without any notice.
