Mechanism of Action: 
Integrase Inhibitors

Indication: 
Treat HIV1 infection together with other antiretroviral medicines.

Other Indication: 
Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP)


Side effect:
Common side effect
Nausea or vomiting
Trouble sleeping, tiredness, and headache.
Fever
Uncommon side effect
Liver problems
Muscle or joint aches
Allergy (Rash,redness or swelling of the eyes swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue problems breathing)

 

Drug Interaction:
Antacids or laxatives that contain calcium, magnesium, or aluminum (such as Amphojel, Di-Gel Maalox, Milk of Magnesia, Mylanta, Pepcid Complete, Rolaids, Rulox, Tums, and others), or the ulcer medicine sucralfate (Carafate)
Buffered medicine
Vitamin or mineral supplements that contain calcium or iron (but if you take Tivicay with food, you can take these supplements at the same time)

 

Pregnancy:
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine
Possible increased risk of neural tube defects

 

Alcohol, Drug and Supplement:
Recommend to take dolutegravir at least two hours before or six hours after supplements.(Products that contain aluminum, calcium, iron, magnesium and/or other minerals)
