Why Your Physique Deserves Medical Precision? Whether you’re preparing for your next competition, working on muscle definition, or just taking your fitness goals seriously, your body deserves more than a standard checkup.

At PULSE Clinic, we understand the unique health needs of bodybuilders and performance-focused individuals. That’s why we’ve created a specialized Bodybuilder Health Check-Up and Lab Testing, tailored to support your muscle growth, hormone balance, and overall wellness.

What Makes a Bodybuilder's Health Check-Up Different?

Bodybuilding isn’t just about training hard and eating clean—it’s a science. Your body undergoes extreme physical stress, strict nutrition, and, in some cases, supplementation that can affect hormone levels, liver function, and cardiovascular health. Traditional checkups often overlook these crucial areas.

At PULSE Clinic, our dedicated health screening package for bodybuilders offers:

  • Advanced hormone testing includes testosterone, estrogen, LH, FSH, cortisol, and thyroid function.
  • Liver and Kidney Function Tests: To monitor the impact of supplements, high-protein diets, and intense training.
  • Cardiovascular Screening: Including cholesterol profile and blood pressure monitoring to assess long-term heart health.
  • Vitamin & Mineral Status: Especially true for B12, D3, iron, magnesium, and zinc levels, which are essential for muscle recovery and performance.
  • Inflammation & Recovery Markers: Like CRP and creatine kinase (CK), to track how your body handles intense workouts.

Description: Comprehensive Blood Tests: Metabolic, Kidney, Liver, Lipid, and Hormone Panels

Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP-14) with eGFR Blood Test

Glucose—Measures blood sugar levels, the most direct test for screening diabetes and managing the condition.

Kidney Profile

  • Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN)—An Indicator of Kidney Function.
  • Creatinine, Serum—An Indicator of Kidney Function.
  • BUN/Creatinine Ratio—Calculated by dividing BUN by creatinine. This ratio can indicate conditions such as dehydration or intestinal bleeding.
  • Estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate (eGFR)—Assesses kidney function to determine the stage of kidney disease and detect early kidney damage.

Liver Panel

  • Total Protein—Helps assess liver and kidney function as well as nutritional health.
  • Albumin, Serum—A major protein essential for liver and kidney function.
  • Total Globulin—A major protein involved in blood clotting and immune defense.
  • Albumin/Globulin Ratio—Calculated by dividing albumin by globulin. When analyzed with other test results, it helps diagnose various liver conditions.
  • Total Bilirubin—Helps detect hepatitis, sickle cell anemia, cirrhosis, and alcohol or drug abuse. High levels may cause jaundice.
  • Alkaline Phosphatase—A protein essential for detecting bone disorders and liver disease.
  • Aspartate Aminotransferase (AST or SGOT)—An enzyme used to evaluate liver function. Elevated levels may indicate hepatitis.
  • Alanine Aminotransferase (ALT or SGPT)—An enzyme used to detect liver damage. Abnormal levels may indicate liver disease.

Fluids & Electrolytes

  • Sodium—A key electrolyte that regulates water balance and nerve and muscle function.
  • Potassium—Helps control nerve and muscle activity.
  • Chloride—Works with sodium to maintain electrolyte balance.
  • Total Carbon Dioxide (CO2)—Helps detect, evaluate, and monitor electrolyte imbalances.
  • Calcium—A mineral essential for bone and tooth health, muscle function, nerve transmission, and blood clotting.

Lipid Panel

Includes total cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol (calculated), triglycerides, and very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL) cholesterol (calculated).

Testosterone (Total and Free)

Testosterone is a hormone responsible for male characteristics. Blood levels are measured in men to evaluate abnormal sexual development and dysfunction. In women, small amounts are produced in the ovaries, and testing helps assess signs of virilization.

  • Free testosterone is typically <2% of total testosterone. In most men and women, >50% of total circulating testosterone is bound to sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG), with the remainder bound to albumin.
  • Standard assay methods for total testosterone lack the sensitivity to accurately measure free testosterone directly. This test estimates free testosterone using a direct, analog radioimmunoassay method, which uses a labeled testosterone analog with low binding affinity for SHBG and albumin but high affinity for the antitestosterone antibody used in the assay.

Sex Hormone-Binding Globulin (SHBG)

SHBG is a liver-produced protein that binds to sex hormones in both men and women, including:

  • Testosterone—the primary male sex hormone.
  • Dihydrotestosterone (DHT)—Another potent male sex hormone.

Homocysteine

Helps diagnose B12 and folate deficiencies and assess the risk of heart disease and stroke.

C-Reactive Protein, High Sensitivity (CRP, hs)

  • High-sensitivity CRP assays enhance the predictive value of other cardiovascular risk markers.
  • CRP increases due to various disease processes, including tissue injury, infection, and inflammation.
  • CRP results should be interpreted alongside clinical history, as recent medical events may elevate CRP levels.
  • Serial CRP measurements should not be used to monitor treatment efficacy.

Thyroid Panel with Thyroid-Stimulating Hormone (TSH)

Thyroid function is critical for metabolism, energy levels, heart rate, and weight regulation. The thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), produced by the pituitary gland, regulates thyroid hormone production. This panel includes:

  • T3 Uptake
  • T4 (Thyroxine), Free
  • Free Thyroxine Index (T7)
  • Thyroid-Stimulating Hormone (TSH)

Free T3

Assesses thyroid function and identifies abnormal protein-binding disorders.

Free T4

  • Used when binding globulin (TBG) abnormalities are suspected or when conventional test results do not align with clinical observations.
  • Free T4 levels should remain normal in euthyroid individuals with high thyroxine-binding globulin levels.
  • It should also be normal in familial dysalbuminemic hyperthyroxinemia.

Estradiol

Estrogen hormones regulate female sexual development and function. The three main types of estrogen are:

  • Estrone (E1)
  • Estradiol (E2)—Primarily produced in women's ovaries; in men, mainly from the testes and adrenal glands.
  • Estriol (E3)

Normal estradiol levels support ovulation, conception, pregnancy, bone health, and cholesterol regulation.

DHEA-S (Dehydroepiandrosterone Sulfate)

  • An androgen present in both men and women, involved in male puberty and secondary sexual characteristics.
  • Can convert into stronger androgens (testosterone and androstenedione) or estrogen.
  • Primarily produced by the adrenal cortex, with smaller amounts from the ovaries and testes.
  • Controlled by adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH).
  • Elevated levels may indicate adrenal tumors, cancer, or hyperplasia and can cause symptoms such as amenorrhea and virilization in women.

IGF-1 (Somatomedin-C)

  • Produced by the liver in response to growth hormone (GH) from the pituitary gland.
  • Evaluates growth disturbances and monitors growth hormone therapy.
