What is TENOF-EM? What are Teno-Em, Ricovir-Em, and Tavin-Em?
TENOF-EM is a combination of Emtricitabine and Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate, prescribed alongside other antiretroviral agents, such as non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors or protease inhibitors, for the treatment of HIV-1 infection in adults. These medications, including Teno-Em, Ricovir-Em, and Tavin-Em, are generic forms of PrEP that have been tested and proven effective against HIV, comparable to the brand Truvada.
Does PrEP Work 100%?
PrEP, or pre-exposure prophylaxis, involves taking a Truvada pill once daily to prevent HIV infection. When taken consistently, PrEP is estimated to be nearly 100% effective, significantly reducing the risk of acquiring HIV.
