Finasteride is an FDA-approved medication that treats hair loss in men by blocking DHT (dihydrotestosterone). DHT is a hormone derived from testosterone thought to be the reason why many guys experience hair loss. What is Finasteride? Finasteride is a prescription medicine used for the treatment of male pattern hair loss (androgenetic alopecia). It is not known if Finasteride works for a receding hairline on either side of and above your forehead (temporal area). Finasteride is not for use by women and children, and should not be handled by women and children.
Take finasteride as prescribed by your doctor. Just keep in mind there aren’t additional benefits from taking it more than once a day.
Consistency is key. If you miss a day, it’s all good, just skip it and get back on your game the next day. Just don’t take two doses to make up for it.
Finasteride stops testosterone from converting into DHT, the androgen that shrinks hair follicles which leads to hair loss.
Side effects may occur with any prescription medicine. Some men may experience a reaction to Finasteride. Talk to your doctor if you experience any side effects while taking it. What are the possible side effects of Finasteride?
Several studies have documented the great majority of these side effects are reversible. However, 1.4% of the patients who experience side effects will continue to have symptoms following discontinuation of Finasteride. Of particular note, there was an association between sexual dysfunction symptoms and the use of NSAIDS (Motrin, Advil, Aleve type medications.) For this reason, Finasteride should be stopped for the period when you take NSAIDs.
There have been reports of a slightly increased risk (1.8% with 5mg Finasteride dosage versus 1.0% Placebo) of High-Grade Prostate Cancer for men over age 55 years old.
PULSE offers access to genuine finasteride online — just like you’d get at your local pharmacy, but without ever leaving home. Through the PULSE platform, you get to skip in-person trips (so no doctor’s office, no waiting room, and no lines). Instead, we provide a secure online consultation with a doctor licensed in your country to evaluate you for a prescription. If the doctor determines it’s appropriate, you’ll get a prescription and options to get genuine, FDA-approved finasteride® delivered right to your door at a pace that suits you. Remember: 1) Legally speaking, you need a prescription to get finasteride®, 2) You may need to work with a doctor to adjust your dose over time and 3) many online sources sell counterfeit finasteride® with faulty ingredients (eg, blue printer ink). Some corners aren’t worth cutting. Be safe, be smart, and keep it legit.
