How is Chlamydia Treated?

Chlamydia is typically treated with antibiotics like doxycycline or azithromycin, often requiring just a single dose. However, if a secondary infection occurs, a longer course of antibiotics may be necessary. It's important that your sexual partners also receive treatment to prevent reinfection and further spread.

How Easy Was It to Get Chlamydia?

Chlamydia is transmitted through unprotected vaginal, anal, or oral sex, as well as by sharing unclean or uncovered sex toys. Contact with infected semen or vaginal fluid, such as in the eyes, can also spread the infection. Having sex just once with an infected partner carries about a 30% risk of transmission.

How Can I Know If I Have Chlamydia?

Chlamydia often shows no noticeable symptoms in most people. You can still pass chlamydia to your sexual partner despite being asymptomatic. This is why getting tested for Chlamydia is important, because it's the only way you can be sure if you have Chlamydia.

However, unusual discharge from the vagina or penis may indicate an infection. Additionally, pain, bleeding, or discharge from the rectum can also be signs of chlamydia. To make sure you don't have chlamydia, we suggested you to get a routine tests to help screen all the risks of sexually trasmitted infections.

What preparations are needed before testing?

The HIV rapid test result will be available as early as 15 minutes-- quick and easy!

Is chlamydia curable?

Chlamydia is curable. It can be effectively treated with antibiotics like doxycycline or azithromycin. Treatment typically involves either a single dose or a course of tablets taken over 7 to 14 days.

How can I prevent chlamydia?

The most reliable way to prevent chlamydia is to abstain from sexual activity. However, if you are sexually active, there are effective steps you can take to significantly reduce your risk:

  1. Use Condoms Consistently: Proper condom use during sexual activity provides a strong barrier against chlamydia and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
  2. Get Regular Screenings: Routine STI testing is essential, especially if you have multiple partners or are in a new relationship. Early detection can prevent complications and reduce the spread of infections.
  3. Consider Doxycycline for DoxyPEP: Taking doxycycline as post-exposure prophylaxis (DoxyPEP) may help lower the risk of contracting chlamydia, particularly for those at higher risk.

By following these preventive measures, you can maintain better sexual health and significantly reduce the likelihood of chlamydia transmission.

How effective is DoxyPEP in Chlamydia prevention?

DoxyPEP cannot 100% protect you from STDs, but recent research indicates it can reduce the risk of contracting syphilis, chlamydia, and gonorrhea by approximately 60% (one-thirds of the normal risks compared to people not taking DoxyPEP).
