Curved Penis. Why are Some Penises Curved?

A bend or curved penis is quite common. Some dicks curve up, bend down, or lean to the left or right. I reckon I developed my curve during high school watching the crotch of the boys in my class tucking my constant erection to the left.

It’s quite common for a dick to curve gently to the left or right when hard. A more pronounced bend, a symptom of Peyronie’s disease, may cause you pain or difficulty having sex, and you should get this checked by a doctor. But first, let’s consider some anatomy.

Your penis is a hydraulic system with three chambers that fill with blood to give you an erection. Curves or bends in your dick are caused by the scars or thickening of the connective tissues between these chambers.  There are many causes such as microtrauma, hereditary, or even an autoimmune disease. Microtrauma can occur from wanking too hard, during sex, or when playing sports.

If you have ended up with a gentle bend, and there’s no pain, you have nothing to worry about.  We’ll discuss how to use your curves for fun later. If your curve is more boomerang-shaped or angular, you might have Peyronie’s disease, and it’s time to visit a doctor.

What’s Peyronie’s disease?

You may have Peyronie’s disease if there is a pronounced curve in your penis - a significant bend causing pain while your penis is erect.

Genetics may play a role, however, it’s more likely to be a result of healing after the injury causing the thickening of the connective tissue giving the penis a sharper bend. Peyronie’s disease has two stages

  1. The initial phase when you injured your dick, which will be painful. You might feel a thickened area on your penis and it’ll be sore. If so, please do see a doctor now.
  2. After the initial pain has subsided, you will notice that your penis is bent. If this causes you issues with penetration or sex, again you should head to the doctor to discuss treatments.

Treatment for Peyronie’s Disease

While there is no cure for Peyronie’s disease there are a few treatment options your doctor may recommend depending on your condition.

  1. Medication – if severe, a bend of more than 30 degrees, your doctor may recommend medication, a series of injections, to help break down the buildup of collagen/scar tissue the microtrauma has caused.
  2. Shockwave therapy to break up the scar tissue.  Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive therapy used to heal wounds, speed up scar tissue repair and promote cell growth. Shockwave therapy is administered with a wand-like device placed near different areas of the penis. A healthcare provider moves the device along parts of your penis for about 15 minutes while it emits gentle pulses. No anesthesia is needed.
  3. Surgery – in extreme cases, and after waiting for 1 year, surgery may be recommended as the last course of action

Curved Dicks Do It Better?

You probably haven’t seen a bent cock in porn but if you have one, you may know that certain positions are very pleasurable for your partner. So, if you have a bendy one, don’t get weird about it, learn how to position to be more effective.

An upward shaped banana curve, or downwards bend, is great for hitting a G-spot or P-spot, so depending on if your partner is a girl or guy and under you or on top (or even reverse-cowgirl), mix it up a bit and try these different positions, and use your curvature to hit the spot.

If you curve to the sides, try the T-bone. This intense position begins with the erected partner on their side with their curve pointed toward the ceiling. The recipient should lie on their back in a T angle and hang their leg over their partner’s hip, ready searching for the P or G spots.

If you are receiving or giving a blow job, be mindful of where you thrust.  And always have fun, and experiment with what works best.

Conclusion

While a curved penis can be a normal anatomical variation, significant changes in curvature or associated pain should be evaluated by a healthcare professional. If you're concerned about the shape of your penis, especially if it's affecting your sexual health or confidence, it's advisable to seek medical advice.
